About Me

Lost Voice Guy at Glive, Guildford 2019

My name is Gabby Allen. I am a freelance British sign language interpreter based in the Surrey and London areas.

I work in BSL, SSE, hands-on and Deaf/blind manual.

Experience

Prior to becoming freelance in 2019 I worked at Surrey County Council PSS P16 for over 15 years as a Student Support Worker then in-house interpreter working in lectures, meetings, plays, open days, classroom environments, work experience placements and annual reviews. Simultaneously I worked for 8 years with Sight for Surrey as a Communicator Guide working with Deaf/blind clients in the community.

Since becoming freelance I have worked regularly in ATW, community, medical, PIP assessments, religious services, social work, mental health, charity and performance settings. Covid-19 has meant that remote interpreting has become my usual platform. However as restrictions are lifted I am willing to work face to face as long as it is safe to do so.
